I started this blog for two reasons. One, it is a way to keep a record of the things I'm doing for MaryJane's Farmgirl Sisterhood Merit badges. Second it meets one of the badge requirements to start a blog.
One of the requirements was to keep a gratitude journal for a month. I've pretty much done that on this blog. I am going to continue adding things I am grateful for to this blog but not for every day.
I started trying to post two times a week. As you can see that didn't happen last week. It's because family events took precedence. So I'm still going to try to post at least once a week during the summer and hopefully when school starts I'll be able to go back to twice a week. We'll see.
Another requirement was to write down unfamiliar words and their meanings and uses every day for two weeks. That was part one. I have done that. I am working on the intermediate portion of that badge and have completed writing the words for two additional weeks. I still have to do some posts or responses on the Farmgirl chatroom to finish this portion of the badge. That is my goal in the next couple of weeks.
So now to catch up on my gratitude thoughts.
Tues. July 1, My husband slipped getting gout of the shower and fell on his elbow and back. It could have been so much worse. I am grateful he wasn't hurt worse. The elbow had stitches, they thought a cracked bone but when they reread the x-ray the next day it was clear. A blessing. The back hurts but there are no broken bones.
Wed. July 2, My son and his family came to spend the day and night and next morning. They were on their way to his wife's family activity. I am grateful for other family activities that allow me to see my kids and grand-kids. We had a nice visit I am also grateful for water and inflatable swimming pools for the kids to play in.
Thurs. July 3 My daughter and her family came to stay overnight and celebrate the 4th of July with us. Her husband cooked dinner. I'm grateful for someone else to take a turn cooking.
Fri. July 4 We went to a parade in a nearby town with both of my daughter's and their families. It was fun. I'm so grateful to live in America. I'm grateful for the men and women who sacrificed so much so we could be a separate nation and have the freedoms we do.
Sat. July 5 It has been close to 98 degrees most of the week. I am so grateful for shade trees. It's nice to sit on the front lawn in the shade and watch the kids playing in the water.
Sun. July 6 I'm grateful for a regular routine. It's nice to have visitors and it's also nice to get back to a regular routine and to go to church and worship as I please, one of the blessings of living in America.
Mon. July 7 I'm grateful for a neighbor who asked us to help him out by picking his raspberries while he was out of town. He has some beautiful plants and some delicious raspberries.
Tues. July 8 I'm grateful for people who stop to visit with me while I'm working in my yard and they are out walking. We live in a great neighborhood with some wonderful neighbors.
